Injection of neuromodulators (Botox®)
What are neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators, such as botulinum toxin type A, are now widely used in dentistry to improve both facial aesthetics and muscle comfort. They work by temporarily reducing the activity of certain muscles, thereby reducing tension and softening facial expressions. Botox® is a well-known brand on the market.
Cosmetic Applications
Neuromodulators can improve the appearance of the face in a natural and subtle way:
- Smoothing of forehead wrinkles
- Reduction of wrinkles between the eyebrows
- Reduction of crow’s feet
- Harmonization of the lower face
Therapeutic Applications
Beyond aesthetics, these treatments can offer several functional benefits:
- Relief from bruxism (teeth grinding)
- Reduction of facial muscle tension
- Reduction of jaw pain
- Improved comfort for those with temporomandibular joint disorders
Treatment Process
- Assessment of the patient’s needs, expectations, and anatomy
- Determination of the treatment areas and the appropriate dosage
- Targeted injections administered with precision for a natural-looking result
- Adjustments can be made following the first appointment
The treatment is minimally invasive and generally requires no recovery time. Effects typically begin to appear between 3 and 7 days after treatment, with optimal results visible after about two weeks. The benefits then last for 3 to 6 months, depending on the individual, and can be prolonged through regular maintenance sessions.
